Deacon
Deacon Akita, Labrador Retriever mix
Deacon is a very sweet and loving yellow mixed breed dog that was pulled from the pound on his last day. He has characteristics of a yellow lab, but also has a double coated breed such as German shepherd or Akita involved in his background. He has prick ears and a blocky Akita head. His breed mix is truly a mystery! Deacon is very sweet, but needs basic training to be a good canine citizen. He is learning to not pull on the leash. He is a higher energy dog and we are teaching him to pull a sled as an outlet for his energy! Deacon has been neutered and is completely up to date on his vaccinations including rabies. He has been heartworm tested negative. Deacon's adoption fee of 200$ helps pay vet bills at the rescue.

Prancer
Hound, Treeing Walker Coonhound mixADOPTED
Prancer is a very sweet young female hound mix. She was found in a broken down shed with week old babies, 7 live, and 3 dead. A kind person brought this young family to the rescue to find loving homes. Prancer is still drying up from nursing her babies, and she'll be ready to be adopted in January after she is spayed. She appears to be some sort of treeing walker hound mix. She has a great personality and should fit in well to just about any household. Prancer will be spayed, vaccinated and dewormed, heartworm tested and provided all necessary medical care before leaving the rescue. Her adoption donation of 250$ helps pay a portion of her veterinary expenses.

Lucy

Standard Poodle
Lucy had her ear surgery, spay and a tumor removed from her breast on August 3, 2009. She is being a real trooper! Her bill came to 789.98$. We have received a total of 250$ in donations to help cover the bill. Would anyone else help? Thank you! Lucy's ear infections are totally non responsive to treatment. The very difficult decision had to be made to have her put to sleep to relieve her from her pain. Our vet suggested one last try- ablation surgery. This is a surgery that removes the ear canal and the source of the infection. Lucy already has hearing loss because of the long standing infections (probably has had them all her life) so the surgery will most likely not cause any more hearing loss. The cost to save her life is about 600$. Would anyone like to help? Her adoption fee will in no way shape or form cover much at all of her medical bills. She has been sedated 4-5 times for deep ear cleanings and shavings, to no avail. Please consider helping Lucy today. =) THANK YOU JESS AND TIM AT CANINE DIVINE IN BEMIDJI FOR SHAVING DOWN THIS PRECIOUS BABY!! Lucy is very sweet with adults and children. She is a dominant female and would do best in a home with a submissive male or no other dogs. She shows intensity towards cats which leads us to place her in a home with no cats or small caged pets. ------- Lucy is a 5 year old female, silvering brown colored poodle. This poodle came with others to the rescue. They have been very neglected. This poodle is learning to be a member of a real family. This poodle has a yeast infection and a severe pseudonomas bacterial infection in her ears and is being treated for this. It will be several months of treatment before she will be healed and cured of this infection. She has had a vet check and has been dewormed and vaccinated for distemper/parvo. This poodle is looking for a sponsor to help pay for her medical expenses. While she is not yet ready for adoption (until she is recovered and spayed) we will be taking applications on her. Her adoption fee will be 250$ to an approved home.

Ben
 Lhasa Apso
THANK YOU CANINE DIVINE FOR HELPING BEN FEEL AND LOOK GREAT!!!
Ben is a very active 9 year old full blooded Lhasa Apso. His owner was in hospice with terminal cancer and asked us to help her find Ben a new home before she passed away. Ben has been a senior companion, but also enjoys older children. He likes cats. He is unsure sometimes of bold dogs, and would probably do best in a house with no other dogs, or a submissive dog. He is not a dominant dog at all, he just gets easily overwhelmed by an overbearing dog. Ben is very well housetrained and sleeps in a crate at night. He does well for grooming. He is not a barky dog, just a nice little dog. He is about 20 lbs. Ben has been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations. He has some patches of hair loss on his armpits and he will be examined by our veterinarian to determine the cause, and begin treatment to resolve this fur loss. He is a sweetie, loves to go for walks, and is used to going potty on a leash. Ben's adoption donation of $100. helps pay for medical bills at the rescue.

Comet & Dancer
BOTH ADOPTED

Boxer, Hound mom and puppy
Comet is Prancer's baby. She will be 8 weeks old on 12-23. We are hoping for a holiday miracle of all 6 of Prancer's babies finding loving homes for the holidays! Will you make that happen? Comet is a sweetie, though quite camera shy. She has a winning personality and loves snuggles! We believe that the father of Prancer's babies is most likely a boxer type dog. Because these are mixed breed puppies, we cannot make any guarantee on breed or future size. They are just loving little pups that will be wonderful family companions! They will get their second set of vaccinations on 12-23, and will be up for adoption on Christmas Eve.

Penny
Dachshund Terrier mix young
12/11/09 Update from the foster mom
I have had Penny for a few days now she is SO sweet. We are still working on the house training. I think she knows it is wrong, but is just not able to hold it (need to change her schedule). She LOVES to cuddle with you. I gave her a bath in the kitchen sink. She started to panic with the sprayer noise, but when I started to lather her up, she slowly sunk into the sink. Then when I rinsed her, she didn't even move. Instead of running away from the towel rub, she just collapsed enjoying the attention. We have 3 other dogs and 2 cats in our home and there are no fights. She gets along with everyone.

Penny is a 1-2 yr old small female wire haired Dachshund/Terrier type dog. Her family was no longer able to keep her and left her at a pet store thinking they would find her a home. The pet store was unable to assist, and asked for the rescue to help. Penny is very good and tolerant with children, as you can see from her photos and video she has become good friends with a 2 yr old. They enjoy watching cartoons together! She is learning to behave around cats, but a home without them would probably be best because she thinks they are fun toys, not friends. She is good with dogs, but will assert herself if a dog becomes too rowdy with her. Penny is being crate trained as her previous family did not housebreak her fully. She is doing well with crate training. Penny will be spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations before leaving the rescue. Her adoption fee of 250$ helps pay some of her expenses while in rescue. Please note- to apply to adopt this animal, you must EMAIL and request an application. One will be emailed back to you. Please know that we are an all-volunteer organization and it may take 24 hours to get a reply. Rest assured we are working hard to get back to you as fast as possible!-

Freckles Cocker Spaniel, Bichon Frise
Young Female Medium size dog

Freckles came to the rescue from a pet store that was unable to find her a home. She is very timid around strangers and will need a lot of socialization. She would not do well in a noisy or very active household and would not be good in a house with small children. Freckles is afraid of men, and we will be working with her one on one to hopefully get her confidence level up so she can go to a home. While she isn't ready to go yet, we will be accepting applications on her so when she can go, she will hopefully have a waiting home. Freckles adoption fee of 250$ helps pay for her medical bills and spay at the rescue

Apollo
Apollo is a 5 yr old purebred yellow labrador. He is currently living on a chain in a yard until we can open up a foster for him or find a permanent home for him. Apollo is a kind dog, good with other dogs, cats and children of all ages. He is housebroken but his owner is gone to work all the time and felt it was better to keep him outdoors. Apollo is neutered and we'll make sure his vaccinations and dewormings are current before he goes anywhere. Can you help get Apollo off the chain? Dogs deserve better than that! Apollo's fee will be 125$ to an approved home. If you are interested in giving Apollo a loving fur-ever home

Smokey
Senior Siberian Husky, German Shepherd Dog
Smokey is a good ol' dog. He is socialized with other dogs and enjoys playing with his kennel mates in their big run. He was taken from a home of discontent and neglect....out on a chain forever and the neighbors had to get food and water to him so he guards his food from the other dogs. He is now fed once a day with his own bowl and food is taken away when he is done. He is now filled out and healthy and ready to find a home. He is up-to-date with routine shots and neutered.

Bosco
Labrador Retriever mix
Bosco is a large dog, Labrador and Blue Healer mix, and has more of the Blue Healer attitude than Labrador. He would prefer a home with room to run and where he can work as a protector. He is about 9 years old. He has been vet checked, is healthy, is up to date with his canine and rabies shots and is neutered.

Bumper
German Shepherd mix large adult male
Harvey is a German Shepherd mix about 8 years old...but thinks that he is just a young squirt. With the heart of a teenager and the silliness of Second grader, Harvey will remain forever young. Harvey likes everyone and gets along well with other dogs. He would like to be goofy with you. He is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and neutered.

Leo
Labrador Retriever
Leo is a Chocolate Lab mix about 7 years old. Leo does not do well with other male dogs in his territory.....preferring females. He is a fine family dog, healthy, happy, willing to please and quite smart. He has been vet checked, given all shots, and been neutered.

Brody
Labrador Retriever mix
Brody came to us on 1-8-08 because his owner moved.... that's it, he moved. Brody is about 6 years old, friendly, social, easy to please, steady and very healthy. It is not his fault that he didn't fit in with their plans when they moved. Brody would like to find a caring, responsible family. He has been vet checked, given his shots and been neutered.

Sadie

Boxer
Sadie is a sweet natured gal with a marvelous personality and like the energizer bunny, Sadie can go and go and... and would be perfect for a fun loving family. She is a pretty, 2 year old Boxer mix. Sadie has been vet checked, is up to date on her canine and rabies shots, and is spayed

Jake
 Labrador Retriever
Jake is a great guy--and would make a wonderful companion for you. He is an 10 month old, Lab mix. (as of 8-20-09) Happy, healthy, wants to please, loves everyone and everything...his goal in life is to make someone smile everyday. Jake has been vet checked, is up to date on his canine and rabies shots, and has been neutered. He is so ready to be your best friend
